Now this is cool! I! DO! LIKE! IT! Heard an audio book of Edgar A. Poe last night, this perfectly covers the mood!
As you do quite a lot of pictures, have you thought about putting in the moon at the golden ratio? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio

I was having some problems with the spherical projection, but as of today I think I have mostly fixed it.

So you'll actually do another version?

I usually do at least one or two renders in a series.
I tried to render it at 3360x2100, but I got a "an unknown error occurred in a render thread" error,
I raised the quality/samples of the fog along with the atmosphere, and changed the texture projection of the moon.
I think I'll try 1920x1080 now......

Can't wait to see the result.  If the moon was more realistic, this would be dead-spot on for an animation of some sort.  Cool point of view and lighting is interesting.
