Hi

WOW great.

Maybe a bit to much dark grey. But amazing!

ciao

Very nice, although I think the lower storm clouds are a bit too...hard, it almost looks like the clouds were carved out of something more solid than clouds...if that make any sense at all ;)

rcallicotte

Very nice!  The lower clouds are probably a little too hard / dense...just a little.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Cool image!
Very good usage of Frank's clouds, well done!

For a start you might try to increase the fake internal scattering to make the clouds brighter.
Also, slightly increasing the enviro light might help as well, but I would start with the fake internal scattering.

Did you get the V2 of the pack as well? You might find it useful to compare the lighting-parameters of V1 with V2 to get clues how to improve this.

Thanks for the comments everyone
darthvader and calico I see what you mean on the hardness look
Martin I'll try your suggestions on the fake internal scattering and enviro light
Zylot   Dont be scared ;D
Naoo Thanks for the comment I'll address the darkness via suggestions given

@chefc - Don't change it too much (in my opinion).  This is a really cool scene with loads of great potential.

The upper is perfect for against the bottom of the cloud unrealistic for my taste!

This would be a good example to compare the cloud changes between the Beta and v2.0. In 2.0 the fake internal scattering no longer affects the parts of the clouds which are in shadow. To be more specific, the fake internal scattering no longer applies to the Enviro Light (GI) component of the light on the cloud. I made that change to address the criticism that a lot of big cumulus clouds in TG have an 'oily' look to their bases or that there is too much weird shading in their shadowed areas. It would be great to see this re-rendered in 2.0 if you get a chance, so that we can do a side-by-side comparison of a fairly extreme example.

Just because milk is white doesn't mean that clouds are made of milk.

Matt

I got that wrong. That change in the cloud lighting is in 2.0.3.1 which is currently only available as the Free Edition. We'll send that update out to Deep Edition owners very soon.

The lighting of the upper cloud is fantastic, the shapes of the lower one are great, too, but this is also where the lighting issues are. Like Matt sort of suggests, to make it look really good you have the reduce the influence of the fake internal scattering. If you have been using the cloud files without adjustments to your scene, I can see where the issues are coming from. The scene that came with the clouds has been optomized for brighter light, higher sun elevation.
I don't know your exact scene setup, so I am taking a guess here:
- make the cloud color brighter, to around 0.4, reduce the scattering color to around 0.6
- reduce the fake internal scattering a bit, but you'll have to experiment as to how much
- maybe reduce the cloud density and/or sharpness some

Just guesses, though.
Hey, I haven't said yet that I am actually impressed by the scene. The whole sky and lighting are leaving a quite intimidating impression ;)

Cheers,
Frank

Ahhh, Mr Cheff sir... Damn fine render. I must say that the upper clouds are superb. I like the lower clouds but... don't know, can't put my finger on it. I'd love to see the terrain with stronger lighting too (less cloud cover) as I think that that looks really nice, great landscape  ;D
