First render with populations/objects

here's my first render with objects...following the advice and tutorials on the question I asked, I got this.



How's it look?

I didn't spend _that_ much time on it, since it was late..and there's noise again! The atmosphere samples are 64 though...

Did you change the haze settings or put the clouds really low by any chance?  Otherwise looks good.  The foreground rocks on the left look... Flat... Or something though.

Maybe upload the tgd so we can just glance at the node network and see if theres something to fix that.

okay, here's the .tgd..
basically all I did was follow the tutorial "Making of wilderness"..
note: the base colors node is off to the side because I forgot to delete it after I disconnected it. I did that because it was overlapping the grass..

You know, the low clouds don't bother me that much as they look like mist; also they add a seance of mystery and drama (By accident rather then design) to the background trees I like it.  ;D

Very good.  Keep experimenting.  Enjoy the program.  Being creative is more important than understanding all the details.  And that'll take awhile, so hopefully you'll enjoy the hunt.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

hmmm....I think that the POV would be better closer to the trees, on the less steep shore..I'm setting something close to there and re-rendering.
You know, out of all the "terrain-rendering-whatever" programs I've used, TG 2 is the best.
Has anyone ever though of grabbing Bryce 5.5 (it's free, you have to register for free from their website to register it) and creating/converting .obj's there? Especially trees, it has a built in tree generator..customizable textures etc. I haven't tried it...never though about it.

Welll, nevermind about the trees. Bryce 5.5 doesn't allow exporting of trees.

Bryce does have a surprisingly nice terrain editor though, and it does allow export... ;D

that's a good start :)
i would lower the cam a little bit though.
try to increase the sun's strength a bit too
and to the render tab, go to the effect tab and try something like contrast 0.4 (or even 0.5) and maybe gamma correction 2...
oh and change the orientation of the sun too, a bit to the left

ok, here is your tgd slightly modified (to fit my lighting taste)
i didn't try to render it big size and quality but i think it might be better ;)

I like your second image better.   A TGD from Seth is like gold - hope you learn everything you can from it like you won't eat for a week.   ;D

i just check the light and pov (but without the trees it's hard to tell if it's good)
if i have some more free time and if you do something with this one, i'll try to do something else ;)

Wow thanks! I'm sure I'll learn something from your .tgd Seth. After this I think I might try a new scene using what I can learn from this one.

Wow, this looks awesome! It's only a detail of .3 too...That is straight from seth's .tgd.
