hi,

I've read through what I think all  (but possibly just most :)) of the cloud threads here but couldn't find a solution.  I am having issues with the cloud quality but just in the far distance.  The clouds closer to the camera look fine to me, just way back on the horizon they start to get really pixelated (see image attached).

has anybody experienced this problem?

you need to add more samples in the clouds and the atmo
cloud quality under the quality tab of your clouds set it to at least 100 or if you are using 2d clouds set the quality to 10
for atmo put the samples up to max (64) I would suggest using around 100 and that shall solve your problem

These look like 2D clouds, which generally require very few samples. So rather than a sampling issue, I think this might be an overall detail problem. What is the main detail setting for the render? If it's below 0.7, try increasing it to that level. If Antialiasing is below 6, try also increasing that. Increasing cloud samples might help too, but try the others first.

@wetbanana
thanx for the tips!  I have played around with these before, but haven't had them that high.
Oshyan is right though these are 2D clouds and even setting the samples up to 200 didn't entirely get rid of the problem

@Oshyan:
Thanks for the tip I will try that, just worried about rendertimes as this is for a time-labs animation  I will see

edit:
it seems to work, however render time increased drastically and so I decided to go for the compromise of upping the quality about halfway to what it needs to be for perfect results and then just blur the tiny leftover pixelated clouds in Nuke :)
