Emphasis until now was on surfaces.
I know this meteor looks like it has already gone through an atmosphere, but I have really no idea what they look like before. Anyway, I like the surface.
Next step is to somehow make this image more dynamic.
Any Ideas on that?

I like the mood in the picture, but from my personal taste, then I would like some changes in the background by using photoshop to create a nebula and maybe add some more colors to the starfield aswell.. Also, other stars are typicaly brighter than the others so maybe make a few bright stars here and there, that would make a good effect.. :)

But I like the picture, I've made some meteoer pictures in photoshop myself, back in the days:) I like your picture..

Cheers,
Mike
Learning history and science, wait,
Knowing that, will that put food on my plate?
Yeah, can I walk into McDonald's, into the counter,
And tell them you can make limestone from gunpowder,
Will they give me a cheeseburger if I know that shit?

It's a shame clouds don't work outside an atmosphere, otherwise you could have made a nice contrail...
Howgh!

Thanks Mike, glad you like it.
I don´t like nebulae that much,
At least not in this image. In this picture this meteor is moving silentliy and unseen (haha) through an otherwise unspectacular space, and probably it isn´t even going to hit the planet, but who knows?
but there is sure something missing, you are right there.

@ Mohawk:
Are you talking about reality or about terragen?
I pictured an iron meteor that probably wouldn´t have a contrail before hitting an atmosphere (different from comet tails)
But I think if I made it from a planet objekt instead of a sphere, I could give it one. (If I´m capable of doing so is another question...

Thanks for your comments,
Jan

i really like the meteor surface ^^

Hey, I made something like this one:

@Mahnmut - The meteor needs to be more rough on the surface, like ro-nin's meteor (above).

Good concept and the planet looks very good.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Hi Jan, you could change the POV slightly, bring the camera a bit closer to the meteor. And even if it's not technically right for the image it really does look like a meteorite that has passed through the atmosphere... I'm looking at one now and the thumb prints and flow lines look really good.

cheers, Simon.

I did this rather poor image about 3 years ago, it's just to show another view...
I just need to tweak that texture a bit more...
