Hi all,
here is another one.Had lots of odd things happening while working
on it (a rasterize error on deleting a node from the network for
example ???),oh well...
Had to render this version with a little Displacement Tolerance increase,
to 1.2,but rendertime was still tolerable,18m39s at this size.
Now that i see it in the bright daylight i think it definitely looks better
in the night or a darkened room, though. ::)
Anyway,here it is.

Phylloxera

Strange but interesting, it is more animal than mineral this surface, one would say a “skin of elephant”!

arisdemos

Could you possibly throw down a tgd of this, it looks like it has potential for (like phylo said) an organic skin texture?

rcallicotte

I like the texture!  And it looks like a snoring old man...cool!
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Oshyan

Actually, I love the shape here. I'd like to see more!

Pretty stunning rocks going on there.... a bit like folded lava left overs :o
I just need to tweak that texture a bit more...

j meyer

Thanks y'all! ;D
Attached is another,hopefully improved,version.

Planetside: as for the first version the Reflective Shader refused to give
me specular highlights no matter what,so i had to delete it (which gave
another ray trace error warning btw ??? ) and to replace it with a new one
and that is working again.Odd.---Please let me know,in case you want to
examine this.

arisdemos:probably not the tgd,but a tgc with the appropriate nodes,if that
is ok for you.

rcallicotte

jmeyer, this is cool!!!  It looks like something in an adventure story.  Thanks for letting us see the final and for offering a TGC!  Groovy!
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

j meyer

So here's the tgc.
You'll find two Power Fractals set for displacement only.I had them piped in
after the Compute Terrain, somewhere between the Base Colours and the
Planet.Be aware that you get different results, depending on where and how
you insert them.
Most likely you will have to adjust them according to your needs.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Thanks for your interest and have fun,J.

arisdemos

Thank a lot J M, I look forward to getting your clip file to work on something organic/living or lively!.

littlecannon

Thanks... I'm about to learn something. :D
I just need to tweak that texture a bit more...

Zylot

the second thumb.. looks like an angry face.

edit: damn, and now I can't *not* see the face.  I'm cursed.

rcallicotte

So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Many thanks for this intriguing terrain.
