This is the previous image I posted here that became a work-in-progress after receiving some good solid and creative criticism that I received from some of the members/artists here (thanks guys). The changes/additions I've made are as follows:

•   Increased atmospheric decay.
•   Reduced the displacements of the tree branches by one-half (thanks Jay).
•   Recreated two populations of bushes, each of a different color.
•   Added wild grasses interspersed among the vegetation. Grass models are by 'Willi' and are available at NWDA - FrankB's site.
•   Reduced the sharpening of the cumulus nimbus clouds.
•   Added a third layer of low level clouds giving the atmosphere more depth.

Could be your best yet, mate.

I love the atmo here.  Maybe some transparency in the foliage leaves and some extra AA is required?

Thanks Eoin,

I did up the AA to about 7; and, will try some additional transparency on the next project. Good to see you here.

All that's left is a Gila Monster sitting on that rock in the lower left!!!
Very  8) Work Bob!!!

Hi Bob,

Among other improvements you applied, I must say that the extra cloud layer and reduced cumulus sharpness, for me is greatly adding to realism. I am still not convinced you've done your best for the fake stones and foreground dirt, though ;)
There's still a month time before the deadline. I know one can get sick of a scene after a while, but maybe let it rest for a bit and then add the final touch for the above mentioned points. You'll see it will be worth it :)

Frank

This work-in-progress is finished.

The NWDA Tech Packs used here to enhance this Gila River area image are RArcher's (Ryan Archer) 'Dirt Pack'; Willi's 'Grass Pack'; and, FrankB's 'Stone Bed' which includes the stones and a 'Hero Rock'. Other vegetation includes lightning's '3Bushes', two of which are used here in varying colors.

The Gila River – The source of which begins in western New Mexico and travels west through Arizona and on to join the Salt River where both together empty into the Colorado River. In Arizona, the river is stopped by the Coolidge Dam; from there on through central and western Arizona, the river is dry except times during the intermittent rainy season which occurs mid June through mid September.
