I wanted to get back into creating planets within terragen 2 I got a bit carried away ;D
everything except for the star field is done in terragen 2 the trench was done with a painted shader and a massive heightfiled generated within terragen 2 the background terrain is a power fractal.
a 9 hour render I think due to the heavy displacements

postwork was done in photomatix and photoshop

enjoy

p.s
Umek is one of my favourite dj's so i devoted this image to him ;D

I'm not a fan of sci-fi renders usually, except for when it's quality like this. Very nice work, impressive scales and depth. Neat second planet as well. Great job!

thanks seth a tu!
I now realize tg2 planets give your image way more depth then postworked ones I don't know how but they just do!

Super concept - really well done :D

It's ok to say wow in this forum isn't it. Well I'm gonna say it anyway: "WOW".
This is a beautifully balanced scene; the inclusion of the post starfield compliments (too often in space/sci-fi scenes it overpowers) the scene well.

I hope I realise I don't exist before I apparently die.

I'll take up the "WOW"!! The trench is beautifully done and looks just impressive...! I love the scale of it all, perhaps the moon/planet is way too big to be realistic and all. But honestly...who cares? We're not in the solarvoyager forums here ;D

Awesome. Maybe you should contact nirokugraphic to find out how he got an in in the sci fi rendering business? Seriously, if you're not in the industry already, you could be making money at this.

Great work ... :) this is what I'm talking about! The "industry" needs to step up and pay attention. How long did this take you to create? 9 hours to render is not an impossible amount for the "industry" to deal with especially as it would be run ion a render farm, split into sections and rendered in a long lunch.... :)
More high quality work like this please ......
