Nice job!  Unfortunately, .tgo is TG2's own object system, and so there aren't many programs that export to it right now.

Any of the imported object types that import into TG2 can be save as .tgo files by right clicking on the object in the node window.
I have had some success using the  Xfrog 3.5  30 day demo, (I will probably buy it when I get the money) it is fully functional and you can make modifications to the models that come with it to get a variety of a certain type of tree (this beats having a 1000 trees that are exact clones). Xfrog has a site that has some free trees and shrubs that can be downloaded.

If you down load them in the Xfrog format (.xfr) they are editable in Xfrog 3.5. Once you get the tree/shrub modified the way you like it, you can export it to an object (.obj) and then bring it into TG2.

If you don't want to work with Xfrog you can download the trees at the above site in the .obj format.  Hope this is helpful

Just so you know, there are many problems with those trees in .obj format.  The .mtl files aren't written correctly, and the images used for textures often need heavy modification to make them work in TG2.

I found that if you open the .png texture file for those plants in Photoshop and save it as a .tif "With Transparency" and re-associate it with the model it will work most of the time. If you modify the .xfr using Xfrog 3.5 it will fix the .mtl file on export

Most of the time (for me) when a obj didn't work I opened the file in Blender or Wings or with Poseray (this one is very efficient) and resave the file in obj again. You may have to tweak the textures a little in Terragen.

Will

hmm I wonder if brining them into Zbrush would work.

The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

Costaud

Hmm if it's possible to open them in Zbrush and save them as obj you could do very interesting modifications to plant with Zbrush but I don't have Zbrush to try (it's too expensive), Blender have a sculpt mode a little Zbrush...hmmm.

Will

hmm, think of the morphing possablitys I'll try it.

Hmmm ok let me know if it's possible.

I can't get ANY of the .obj plants/trees to work.  I created some grass with bantam grass creator, and even plants with plant studio.  NONE of them work, and TG2 crashes each time.  I've even opened and then saved them as .obj files in wings3d.  Still no luck, TG2 crashes when I go to render.

It's odd that the objs saved with wings3d would crash.  This should be fixed in the next update, however.

I got the free version of DAZ and it seems to convert obj's for Bryce ok  which load and render in TG so far so good. If that helps?

I think I have it working now.   I did a cold boot on my machine.

However, I downloaded that huge pack of free trees from X-Frog, but I am unable to get them into wings 3D.  It simply locks up.  I've left it there for 15 minutes with no luck.

Has anyone gotten these trees successfully converted to TG2 specs?

I am hoping TG2 will eventually be able to open .obj (and other formats) without extra steps.
