trying to make a convincing tornado[attachimg=#]

Hi jcinbama,
Very nice start, I think a distance shader to get a lighter color sky behind the tornado (google f5 tornado to see what I mean) will help make it more pronounced.

It's really looking good,

Good suggestion by Glen.

I like this work too so far. It looks like the tornado self is one separate cloudlayer, isn't it? It has a lighter color than the cloud behind it and then the clouds above it have the same brightness. This gives the impression that the tornado doesn't really originate from the cloudlayer above.
The tornado itself looks quite convincing!

Agreed, and also the cumulonimbus clouds need to be taller and less flattened along there bottoms. Usually the super-cells are quite turbulent with the smaller scale patterns. Something billowy.
