A jpeg of a simple landscape with the wind generators. I can not think of how to get motion blur for the blades. Here is a link to the Blender file and tgo file in a zip archive.

Good start, have you had any success animating the blades?
I did some work for a wind farm construction company, REP and Vestas, I'll post up some details in the morning.
The one thing they kept coming back about was that the turbines NEVER line up with the blade rotation.

The Blender file can be modified to anyones content. I set up the model so the various parts can easily be selected.

İf Terragen 2 accepts transparant or alfa in images, make a semi transparent plane in blender with motion blured rotor (in 3d or 2d) and stick on the same place.İ hope it makes sense what i sad.
Cheers.

By the size of the wings, it looks like they need to be taller, but your the engineer.
I like it!!

I have some meter accurate scale models of wind turbines, I'll upload tomorrow :)

I thought about lengthening the blades. They started to fade out. Also, I wanted room for trees underneath.
The alpha image would have been a good idea, but I use procedurals almost exclusively in Blender. Also I wanted the generator to be at 'rest'.

Cool Richard! I did not go for accuracy in the model, just the basic shape.

You make the blades any longer and they'll be carving the ground man. Make the tower taller.

The correct name for these is Wind Turbine not Wind Generator, Generate implies the creation of some thing such as Electricity. Wind Turbines such as the two bladed example shown here convert some thing into some thing else; in this case wind energy into Electricity.

The title "Wind Generator" implies that they create wind when this is not the case! A change of Tile to "Wind Turbine" is suggested.  ;D

Regards to you.

Thanks. At least the label gives an idea of function. I really just wanted a low poly count model if FrankB wanted to use my suggestion of wind turbines in the landscape he is currently working on. For the scale they would be in his image, they would look pretty cool.

They do have a tapered shape, but not as much as in your model. Found this picture for comparison:

This should also give you an idea about the blade size. This following image also gives an idea on how to make blades look rotating fast. http://roth-harald.de/resources/Windrad2.jpg
In the end, you probably don't need distinct blades at all, just a blade with a color / alpha gradient.

A fee wind turbines would be nice in the farmland image, indeed.

Njeneb, your clouds are nice.

Cheers,
Frank

Wind Turbines don't rotate that fast, about one rotation every three seconds, they are built to maintain a constant rotation speed in different wind conditions.

you're right, they rotate with a rather small angular velocity.

Here is a link to Cypher's wind turbine. It's a better model than mine. Thanks Cypher! 8)
