Here is my completed entry for Unknown Moons. I have already uploaded it to deviantART.
They just issued a tornado warning and said to stay away from windows. Does that mean I can't use my computer?

This is similar to other images he has posted. The gas giant is supposed to be in a different star system. Personally I think he was pretty smart to use Jupiter for the image map. Quick and dirty gets the job done, used to be a phrase used back when.
He's just starting; it would be a lot of learning to do this procedurally.

Also, if he behaves from now on, let's give him a chance. He's 12. I was very obnoxious then. I probably am still. This is a great program, Terragen 2, for him to show interest. It can help him learn geometry, math, and science.  8)

Surely 'unknown moons' would be in a far(ther) off, unrecognizable planet. Not Jupiter. There's about 60-odd moons already discovered that have been confirmed to orbit Jupiter. Maybe you've discovered more? ;)

However, it's a nice enough image. Higher antialiasing would definately be a bonus here but, then again, you'd have to pay for that, huh?
The pinkness of Jupiter is a bit overpowering aswell. It seems you have applied the colour map in an overall hue of pink. Too much.

Good start, keep at it.
It's Dgnyre!

I didn't use Jupiter. I used it as a source image for my Dgnyre map.

You're right, Njeneb, of course.

Black Hole, you could try to make a true gas giant with an internal TG planet:- Make a new planet, uncheck its 'render surface' box and use a cloud layer that fills the entire space of the planet.

For example, if your planet was 100m in radius(an unlikely size but good for demonstration), you'd set the cloud layer to '-50m' and make the cloud layer '100m' deep. You'll need to adjust the density fractal scales, way down, to make the features fit into the globe of the planet.
You have the colour controls of the cloud layers to create the colours, one red, one green, one etc... Go for it.
I already tried that. It was crap.

I could use that for something like Bespin, but I have already submitted this to deviantART. Or I could use that for Jupiter or Saturn. The way you're putting it, it sounds like an enormous metacloud.

Give it some more tries. My first Terragen 0.9 renders were horrible. But I did not have anyone elses work to look at, so I thought they were pretty good. At that time I did not have an internet connection. I downloaded the program from a friends computer.

What part of that do you not understand? It is finished and I have already submitted it, and it would be stupid to upload "Unknown Moons: Ru'Ep V.2".

I have been tweeking an image I submitted for the NWDA contest. Now that I have the full Terragen 2, I can use more populations. My understanding of the program is better. Plus I like the image, but it needs improvement.
The nice thing about CG is it's not a painting. You can say 'done'. I don't think I have finished any image.
