I remember an image you did like this. I always was curious how you got the layered look to the laterally displaced rock ledges.
Looks good. My only issue is with the hill in the background. It looks different geologically from the look of the layered stones.

thanks njeneb, the background cliffs, are the same structure, just difficult to tell at this distance!
as for the texture on the strata?... I don't know how it got there, serendipitous node work I guess!!

I think they look pretty cool. It's probably clamped displacement offset.

I don't recall having any clamped displacement, but it may be affected by the strata and outcrops shader, which is sandwiched between some pretty heavy lateral and vertical displacements and redirects!

I use tags for credit in my Flickr images. Saves a lot of typing. Also, if someone's name is long or difficult to spell, the typing errors are minimized.

Very nice.  I'd like it to be clearer on the rocks nearest, but it's very good.
