Just playing, and thought Seth's Big Fat Atmo might look interesting...

I've tried this. It's very hard to get the detail of the terrain to look right. It all tends to become a silhouette, for me anyway.

i suggest to hit the random seed button ^^
maybe you should decrease the coverage...
that's strange, i post several renders here with the BFA and except the examples of the packs, none were silouhette landscapes :)
did you try a second sun or even increase the first one above 10 strength, or to increase the GI power on surfaces ?

As I said, I was just playing, and I thought this rather gloomy monochrome result was actually quite nice. I'll definitely be tweaking the clouds a bit, and adding some details to the terrain. Thanks for looking!

I found using a lot of AO worked for some things, like waves. It also works on terrain, but it looses depth perception.

I've returned to this scene and changed the clouds a little.

First treatment: alien landscape - could be Venus.

This one is more like the Scottish highlands - it uses dandelO's latest grass shader, and I've put Seth's Big Fat Atmo on a diet  ;)

I'm happy with the way the light turned out in this one - the internal scattering in the clouds is also nice.

I like the first new treatment the best. I'd say stick with that idea and add some colour/texturing to those nice cracks you have going on.

I'd limit those cracks to sloped faces, though, to make it appear like fractured rock, maybe stick some grass or rocks on the flats, instead of the dried-mud-hills all over, and add some small redirects on the X+Z's of the cracked surfaces.

Stick with No.1 and also, I'd reduce the 'haze glow amount' in your atmosphere, by about half, at least. It's very blown-out with white as it is.
The atmo colours are great. Me likey!

first one is a good start.
i'll follow what dandelO suggests or if you want to keep the atmo fat like this one, take the sun outta the screen :)

The first one DOES look like Venus. The only thing I'm suggesting is that you turn everything kinda golden. Venus's clouds ARE yellowish, you know. ;)
They just issued a tornado warning and said to stay away from windows. Does that mean I can't use my computer?
