A few months ago I was talking about 16 core chips with one of my clients and those idiots were laughing; now there is a prototype 3 times more complex.

Bye!!!

When i bought my first pc ( 286 ) in 1991 (circa) it had 2 mb ram and 40 mb HD . Everyone asked why ?
They said i will never need that much  :)

I heard about a meeting in 1984 where IBM was asking how much ram to include. They were told 640k would be all that anyone would ever need.

Yet even now, people ask why you'd need 1TB hard drives. Why motherboards come equipped to hold 24GB of RAM. They never learn.
Figured out how to do clicky signatures

You think your Commodore 64 is really neato?
What kind of chip you got in there, a Dorito?
You're using a 286?
Don't make me laugh!
Your Windows boots up in what, a day and a half?
You could back up your whole hard drive on a floppy diskette?
You're the biggest joke on the Internet!

They just issued a tornado warning and said to stay away from windows. Does that mean I can't use my computer?

ok, but when you think about it again, back in 91 with a 286, there were very few apps that would make use of so much memory. I don't recall one, to be honest. Was windows even capable to address this space in 91? I don't remember clearly....

Henry Blewer

Yes, Windows could address this RAM. This was back when Newtek began migrating Lightwave over to the PC. I had 8 MB on my Amiga 2000 and 10 MB on am Amiga 4000, but they are not PC's in the Microsoft sense. I never had enough RAM. Even after I bought an Amiga 4000 and put 128 MB in it.

To be honest i don't remember every thing clear enough to answer about the ram  :)
There weren't  really much software you are right. But in 1993 in the time i was upgrading to a 386 the conditions
were changing fast.
But the HD i remember very good. It was full very soon :)

Kadri

Njeneb if i remember correctly did Newtek bring Lightwave to PC in 1994 or 1995 ? That was the first time i used it i think ...?
