This is made using Henry's (njeneb) tgd he posted two days ago.
See original thread here: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=8412.0

I had quite some fun changing and adding stuff to this tgd, though I kept most things intact.
Biggest changes were scaling down and increasing the density of populations + added extra populations, adding rocks and some crappy clouds...sigh.
Anyhow, it was fun doing :)

I'm thinking of writing up a tutorial/walk-through of the network and post it as a whole so everyone can have a look.
I deliberately chose free models, available on these forums, for this purpose.
However, the tutorial/walk-through will not be entrance-level, say medium.

Any kind of comments welcome, thanks for stopping by :)

It looks like you really enjoyed playing around with this! I am glad you liked it. I like the POV you chose. I had thought of adding some clouds at the level you placed yours. Mine would have been more of a fog, with more coverage.

Thanks Henry :)
That's what I had in mind too, but I didn't take into account that on final render with higher GI settings clouds often brighten up more. So that's a lesson.
However, the density-fractal and cloudsettings themselve are pretty sucky as well. I might update on this, will see :)

Because of the rocky terrain in the area I was trying to model, I was having problems getting the populations right. That's one reason I chose the POV I had, it gave me a good look where things were.

I don't know... I find this variat more interesting: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=8412.msg89775#msg89775

It just looks better because of the bright and dark areas which have a higher contrast to one another, and the sunlight direction and reflections.

I like it, even the clouds. The only thing I'm not so keen on is the water colour - just a bit too green for me - but I'm prepared to believe it might be that colour in real life.

Nice lighting and expansive view - I really like the rock and the water colour is different, but well-chosen

Very nice, Martin, though I agree with Frank's assessment.  Linda

Thanks guys :) I'll see if I can render it again using the previous lighting setup. Perhaps the not yet spotted bug will disappear as well.

Cheers,
