I did not know what to call this one...

Thanks go to Walli (Jan Walter Schliep) for his marvelous plants. FrankB, Schmeerlap (John), and Tangled Universe (Martin) for the good advise. I have probably forgotten some people, I am sorry. Of course Planetside!

I changed my method of doing things in this one. I did the terrain first, lighting, clouds, lighting, POV, lighting, clouds, and then added the plants.

Nice one, Henry. That's very realistic, very rugged. I like it a lot.

Very nice mid-ground. My only suggestion is perhaps a little bit more variation in the rock colour.

Tangled-Universe

Hi Henry, this looks really nice and detailed, especially from midground on. Good clouds as well.
I'd only make the grasses twice smaller and twice dense. Think that might look a bit better.

How did you set up the area of your grass-population? You save a lot of RAM by either clipping it to the camera or setting up the smallest minimal area (I often do both, saves RAM and populates fast).

Keep it up!
Martin

FrankB

This is remarkeable, Henry, congratulations!

Henry Blewer

I did use clip to camera. The grass/crocus area is only about 500 x 500 scale units. I did try the grass shorter, but it all but did not show up.

Thanks for the comments. I am happy with how this turned out. I was going for a Japanese Print look.

My TG2.1 just got better. Thanks for drawing my attention to this new feature.
How did I not see it  ::)

Btw: very nice image. As TU said, shorter/denser grass would be even better.

I hope I realise I don't exist before I apparently die.

Superb lighting and pov - those crocuses are lovely

Nice scene , Njeneb  :)
The image has a kind of a flatness  from lighting point of view. I don't know why but the foreground could be more vibrant .
Do you use too much haze or other setup ?

Kadri.

Henry,

This one of the better images I've seen. Excellent.

for higher dynamics you need to sacrifice some of the gradient in the sky, except if you can start from an .exr.
See attached.

I think the rocks look like clay. They need some more details.
Other then that, it's a very good piece. I like it very much ;)

I knew I should have saved the exr file ::) :'(
It would have been fun to post and let everyone play with it. Maybe I will find a new POV and render this one again. Can Terragen.org accept exr?

Hi njeneb,
I've been accused of overstating and prone to gush, but I honestly think you've created perfection here.
Sooo beautiful, and your work is outstanding- in all aspects.
Thanks for the inspiration!
Linda

Thanks Linda. I think it is one of the best renders I have done to date. As I wrote, I was going for a Japanese Print look. I kept my Zen focus and did not want to over populate the scene. I found an image of the Japanese Character for Happy. I may do something in Blender with the image and a 3D object of the character. It will make a nice backdrop.
