I used Poseray for my conversions. It seems to give the most stable obj files of the methods I've used so far (Blender and Wings) and IMO is simpler to use for just straight conversion purposes. Also note the tip above ;)

This one I suspect....

Yep that one - well I don't have Poseray so won't download those beauties.  They sure were nice tho!
I may be crazy but at least I'm not crazy!

If you download the the 3ds files of these, here is some advice on using Poseray to convert them to stable obj which will open and render with out crashing, I just copied it from my other post if it sounds familiar,  "Poseray does a great job of converting 3ds files to obj, which open and render without crashes, BUT, you have to make 2 changes in Poseray's groups tab, under the faces, vertices and normals tab, first click Drop y = 0, and then to the right of that under scale and rotation reference point click origin, then all that needs to be done is click the green check mark to update the file before exporting as an object.
If you don't do this all the objects, or at least the ones I have experimented with, will be about half submerged in the surface.

And one small addition.  If your imported object in TG is lying on its side, in the OBJ options in TG uncheck the "Source Z up" box. Here's a quick and dirty reworking of a 3DS from http://3dplants.0catch.com/download.html

Oh that looks great - a lot of potential there!  You guys really have a handle on this and other software, the conversations here are very interesting and it makes me realise how little I know!  Keep up the good work, the input in this forum has been extremely beneficial to all of us.

Wish list:  long prairie grass or wheat in a golden colour ....  Xfrog have a beauty on their Grasses CD which is a titch expensive for me ... if anyone has something like this as an obj or tgo I would be ETERNALLY grateful!   ;D

No problem.        :)

Hi there guys. Many thanks for sharing. Am I the only one who cant get anything from www.sharebigfile.com to work. I put in the 3 digit security code and wait for the countdown to reach "Download File" and click on the button and...... nothing happens. I've tried it in Opera and IE 7 (spits on floor) and both do the same. If anyone is interested I'll more than happily host the files on my site.
If you're interested just email me the files (as they're both small) to miles(thispartisrubbish)@gintdev.co.uk (removing"(thispartisrubbish)" of course, no spam for me :) ) and I'll upload them and post the link in this thread.

Nope can't download either  :'( just get a 404 error. Costaud & Sethren please consider sending the files to Mr-miley so we can download them.

Cheers

If a permanent download is established, would it be OK if I put them on Ashundar's list of models?
