Then please answer this question. Why do maps reflecting the election returns always show the Republican wins in Red but Democratic wins in Blue? Do the news media in Britain show results the same way (i.e. Tories vs. Labor)?

I"ve wondered about that, too.  In Canada (and I suspect Britain and Europe, too), it's the inverse with blue designating the conservatives and red designating the fascists and socialists on the left (though we also have orange for the Marxists and green for the Greens).

I suspect, although I could be wrong, that it has to do with left and right having a different, more historic, meaning in Europe and having those ideologies "switching sides" in the U.S. and North America.

This thread has made me thirsty, and now I need a coke.

Truly I appreciate your not even bothering calling them liberals, since they are not liberals. Real liberalism is basically dead and gone and that is a real shame. Not that there is much real conservatism anymore either.

Also, music really got shitty since people on the left stopped thinking. Has anyone else noticed that? Happened really fast. All of a sudden everything just started sucking, more or less. Left leaning people always made such good music (shity paintings) but really good music.

From the late 50s to the late 90s, just sooooo much real thoughtful, fun, powerful music. Then this : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfwJA0f0UTg

^^ this is the sound of the left, people, deal with it.

If this is the sound of the left i feel i am a conservative right now  :o  :)

But man the music in the 60'ies and 70'ies was great.

It was quite intentional.  Those words mean different things depending on which side of the pond you're on and in what time period.  The old left (French Parliament, pre-Marx) were the original free market capitalists.  They wanted to liberalize the economy (and themselves) from the state.  The old right, were the monarchists.  They wished to maintain (conserve) the existing corrupt, overarching kingdom and keep the serfdom of the common folk.

And today, in North America, it is the complete opposite, although sides have traded a few policies between each other.  I have some theories about that, but  I won't post them here.  Basically, however, the new left, as I call them leftist-conservatives, want to go back to having that corrupt, overarching monarchy that decides everything and keeps people in serfdom, doling out favours and keeping ownership of everything as they see fit and to return to the Divine Right of Kings.  Even Canada's own Liberals (not to be confused with liberals) refer to themselves as Canada's Natural Governing Party.  They see ruling over others as their natural right.  And the new right, the conservatives, what are they conserving?  The previous economic liberalism that once existed in North America.  Now it's a convoluted mess, and the meanings of words have been twisted into Newspeak versions of themselves to serve political ends.

None of that matters, however, as neither side in either country holds themselves to any of the BS they campaign on, which has caused me to (gladly) walk away from it all.

Nice man, real nice. 8) listening now. Never heard this before that I can recall.

You know, I think that the problem is that the musicians of the last 50 years were all classically educated artists. So they were standing on and building on the previous 500 hundred years. But now people are just making music standing on the last 20-40 years, so there is a big break in the thinking. Just my guess.

....

Yeah man, this is good stuff. Thank you!!!

lol. Anyway, we should make a clean thread when one of has tested the soft, this tread was finished after the OP ;D ;D ;D

By the way, what the hell is a thread?

Lets talk about good music now so our lefty friends won't hate us so much. Nothing heals like high fidelity.

It really does make me feel better! I can't believe I never heard this album before.

I love metal too. There was much great hard rock for a long time always changing and pushing forward, and then alternative and grunge in the 90s which a lot of was really really brilliant. But this new rock crap now is completely without heart. Not all of it but most. Radio where I live turned to total and complete shit. I guess no one listens to radio anymore though.

Of course I don't mean there is no good music being made now. Just that there is far less of it than there was for most of my entire life, and all that time before me.

Ok guys, lets share the love, post your top five songs from each genre you care to post about. I don't think about politics or anything when I listen to good music, I am gone from this place by their mighty powers.

:)

It is one of the albums i really love. And with "love" i want to capitalize it to a page wide high Michael.
I can not listen to it only by separate songs. I listen to it always as a full album.
Interestingly this is one of the less known albums of those days in general as it looks.

I think very much like you about the music that is around us today.
I am just afraid of the age side effect like the elder ones had probably of the music in those days.
But then i think screw it...most of today's music is trash :)

This one is another of my full loved albums. A little different and not sure if you will like it.

Looking into some of these that I never heard of before. :)

Kadri,
I listened to the first album twice last night. Really good working music, I lost track of time and stayed up way longer than I should have. I'll check out the other links today.
