cellular artifacts in my reflection shader

I'm attempting again to create a lightprobe by setting the camera to ortho, same width as sphere placed where I want to capture the environment.
However, despite minimizing the sphere's displacement tolerance and jamming the quality to 2000, I still get these blocks.  This particular image is a spot grab of the part of my sphere reflecting the sun.
(5 hours worth for this little snippet,  :P )
