I've finally got around to releasing planetGenesis 1.8 with new GUI features, new noises and 16 bit Greyscale SGI output just for you guys :0)

For those of you who are not aware of pG, it's a free, open source, cross platform height field generation tool written in Java 1.5.

The website for pG is http://planetgenesis.sourceforge.net

You can download version 1.8 from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=50217&package_id=43746&release_id=543208

Thank you!  PlanetGenesis was my terrain generation mainstay back in the days of TG 0.9, and I can't wait to explore the new features :).

The world is round... so you have to use spherical projection.

dhavalmistry

does PG support all the function based terrain generation that we have in TG2

May be not everything, but there's a lot of overlap and some stuff TG2 does not offer, and as far as noise functions goes though it knocks the current version of TG2 for six :-)
Of course it's only a height field generator so there's no overhangs without TG2's help.
