Hey all,

I am currently doing a render using sand (I know, pretty basic stuff ;) )

But I was wondering, is there a way to use functions/shaders to makes dents in certian places of the surfacing of terrian, to make it look like for example, Footprints ect.

thanks all

Footprints have been done.  Do a search for Footprints in the Snow.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

zionner

Thanks man, searching now.

This'll be intresting ;)

zionner

Ok,

I had a look, and these would work, but im looking for something a bit more complex,

What I meant was a large amount of sand has been *thrown* from a certian point due to pressure coming down onto it, Is there a way to do that.

No,

an effect, as if an aircraft is hovering like 100 meters over the sand...

DeathTwister

I know they wont, but a basic partical generator would be sweet in this would it not?,,Maybe someone make a 3rd party plugin that will /hints loudly, and I will follow this as I was going to need something like that soon as well, good question bro.

No, I didnt mean particles, (i've already went through that! lol)

I meant the After effect, large amounts of sand being scattered about everywhere

DeathTwister

Ya I have scene something on displacement somewhere, but I cannot remember now where, but it looked like what you are trying to do, but I was thinking of the Ship hovering in the iar, with the sand displaced and also have the particles to blow around as well would be killer killer.

yeah,

I have an engine for particles, but I have trouble exporting them

Seth

can't you do that with some craters ? i mean with some extreme displacements ?

zionner

hmmm, Possibly

I'm not sure how well it would work with my sand settings though,
