I've bought a dual core processor and a new motherboard and every time I try to insert a heightfield load shader in the scene TG crashes!!! :'(
In fact, any shader within the add operator button makes TG crash...
Need help, the node network looks odd too...
I'm even concerning about get back to my old motherboard and processor...

Oshyan

Can you give more details about the crash? Do you get an error message?

Make sure you have the most recent drivers for your graphics card.

rcallicotte

Yeah, outside of a problem with your node setup or the terrain file, I think Oshyan is probably right.  Drivers.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

Marcos Silveira

Oshian, the motherboard uses a SiS Mirage Graphics version 6.14.10.3760.

The error signature:
AppName: tgd.exe  AppVer: 1.9.4.1  ModName: sisgl.dll
ModVer: 6.14.10.3760  Offset: 0000d432

And thats the file created for this error:

Can anyone gimme some advice???

Oshyan

The graphics system/driver is definitely your problem. Note the module name "sisgl.dll", which is the GL (OpenGL) driver for your SIS graphics chipset. A newer driver may be available, but the simple fact that this SiS chipset is so little used and potentially non-standard probably accounts for the problem. I realize you may not have issues with other OpenGL or at least 3D applications, but TG2 is a bit more sensitive than some other apps in that regard.

One possible solution would be to try turning down your graphics card acceleration functions. In Windows XP go to Control Panel -> Display -> Settings tan -> click Advanced -> go to Troubleshoot tab and turn down Hardware Acceleratio to minimum (none), then press OK. If that helps you can see it if affects other applications or functionality (if you don't play games or use other 3D apps it may not).

Ultimately I would strongly recommend upgrading your graphics system. It doesn't need to be expensive, less than $50 most likely. It will depend on whether you have PCI Express (newer) or AGP. But an upgrade is definitely recommended. Almost anything you could buy would be an appropriate upgrade from what you have, but if you have a question about a specific model for upgrade, feel free to ask

I recommend http://www.newegg.com for purchasing, if you're in the US.

Oh, thanx Oshian!!! :D
At least you have given to me a "north" to go...
Now that I understand what the problem is, I can focus on that and solve it...
I had a nvidia graphic card in the last motherboard which couldn't use in the new one, I'm gonna buy a PCI Express as you recommended.
