In other words, you turned up the quality to insane values?

Will

quality is set to one, AA is 3 and GI is 4, my normal setting for this type of thing.

I have a luminus surface (quite a large one infact) which could explain it..what do you think should I abort and try again with a lower setting.

I haven't really seen any renders showing the difference between 1 and 4. So I don't know. Not quite sure what it exactly controls.

I have been setting the GI to 0/0 for a while now, mainly because I can't see a difference in anything but the render times. Image quality seems to be the same or so close it's not worth increasing your render time for. The scene I submitted for this contest was set to 0/0 for both GI settings and only took 2 hrs 45 mins to render. Until someone can show me where the difference is I will keep them set to 0.

From my experience, GI detail is really useful for up-close plants and stones and stuff like that.  It adds a bit more definition to the edges and enhances the color a little bit.  While some images do require 3/3, 4/4, or even 5/5 GI, I personally have never gone above 2/2.

Dark Fire

Nice lava. Good luck with trying to render the underderable scene...

Will

well what it seems to be as I just found out is the atmosphere, otherwise it redners in about 45 minutes, I wonder if I lower the quality if it will be faster, at least enough to make a diffrence.
