Hi,

I was thinking to work on the NWDA Default scene once more but was carried away while playing with it. There was a quite nice outcome, so I thought I'd share this here.

Weclome to volcano world, a planet too close to a strong gravity field. It's definitely rather hot here, no life other than bacteria. Surprisingly volcano world has an atmosphere. Weak, but real.

Made under 1 hour, rendered in 20 minutes. Derived a couple cracks from the Default Project's voroni function, added a twist and shear, strata and a few fake stones. That's it. 20 minutes is not too bad considering the size, and detail 0.9

Cheers,
Frank

The cracks look really good. I would have made the sky a different color; that's just artistic license. But I do like the density of the atmosphere.

Forget Tuesday; It's just Monday spelled with a T

I would love to crawl over those parched surfaces, hallucinating ice cold beers, though I'd probably forget the thirst, and try to figure out the node network!

This looks like something from our friend the moist yellow fruit - which is about the highest compliment I can pay to a TG2 sci-fi render  ;)

Sheesh! That place looks hot, although I will echo inkydigit's desire to crawl all over the place. Nice work.

this looks good, interesting combinations of displacements :)

inky, if your lucky maybe you'll hallucinate the node network in the distance! :D

I didn't realize you could be interested in the tgd. I've posted it in the procedural terrain library here http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=4484.msg85385#msg85385

Cheers;

Frank didn't mention the veins of dilithium ore  :)

Here's what it looks like during my version of day time with two suns & a purple sky.

The cracks are generated by a voronoi-noise function and you can use the same function to mask luminous surfacelayers.
