Title: Steampunk Project
Post by: the first seer on July 19, 2018, 06:24:54 AM
It's time for me to open my own steampunk thread, because the topic is now bigger than expected :)

It all started when I had recently reviewed my old Blender work and found these gauges.

I am fascinated by old things such as motors, measuring devices that still have real pointers or rusty materials, it may well be due to the influences of my work as a machinist and later as a technical draftsman in mechanical engineering.
I've always liked the smell of coolant and oil on the machines and the pounding and vibrating. There were almost no CNC or NC machines and I still did my training on old lathes, milling machines and planing benches without electronics.

First, I started with pipes, which you always need :)

Here were the materials of "Hannes a great solution"

Something is regulated here and there on the Nodes and you can adjust this material great. I still work on a combination with my materials.

It took some time to adapt the old gauge and develop a new one, but patience pays off and gauges are very important :)

Since I used to like to work with letters in Blender or Vue 2016, I decided to design a floating steampunk object that consisted mainly of modified letters in Blender.
There were some difficulties with the conversion to mesh, but with remesh there were again nice surfaces.

With the "Janosch Gravisphere" a big step of the project has been made, the instruments and tubes are missing, but that is yet to come.

Janosch" was an ingenious visionary and inventor from the abstract land of the fractals "Orakum".
Surreal vehicles and objects were his favorites.

That is a interesting thread.
As I wrote in the "New Life Terragen training Event" thread I would be really interested in some pointers to modeling for Terragen.
Anything one has to take care of before exporting from the 3D app. Like polycount, size, doesanddont`s and texturing.
The instruments you did here are very nice. Mine so far look rather lowres even after exporting my hires model as *.obj.
If you ever find the time to get a little bit more into detail overthose things, I`d very much appreciate it.

Thank you much Klaus!

It is important to convert everything in mesh and then check the surfaces in editmode. Many modifiers can only be applied to mesh. Important double remove!
If the surfaces do not look good, I'll use the Remesh modifier.

In general, make everything in Editmode a UV processing, new objects is recommended, except for Sphere.

For export and UV apply all modifiers from top to bottom.

If an object is wrong, it's dark in Terragen's window. Often the nodes are downgraded and connected, reloading the object or checking in Blender if the nornals are correct.
if an object is loaded in TG, do not subsequently add new materials in Blender, otherwise reload and connect the object.

It has happened to me several times in TG of two identical objects, an object has remained dark, because only in Blender helps to delete the relevant part and copy, re-export. The re-loading of the Obj file is now even easier in TG 2.2.10 through the reload field

floating energy meter in Blender 2.79

For my steampunk project "Jandosch Gravisphere" I need a measuring device that displays the floating energy. The energy is generated by fractals and the strength must be measured and regulated to ensure a steady optimal flow.

This device works with a Menger fractal and by the occurring interference pattern to the fractal saturated ground of Orakum and Yurkanti the current energy balance of the necessary floating energy can be displayed.
The description of my meter was influenced by:
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/tv/watch/06ab813e484da68dc144b8a8b0ca6ee0/

The tube will be made of glass, inside which is a spring and an object for display, guided by a rod in the middle.

I have attached pictures of Orakum and Yurkanti:

Objects were designed in Blender, Mandelbulb 3D mesh export.
Material and render In Terragen 4.2.10

To measure fractal levitation energy through interference patterns between different fractal energy sources in Orakum and Yurkanti.

Thank you much!

I've paired the glass sader with powerfractal shaders and Image shader at the inputs to give a little more contrast to the glass.

Here at the screenshot of Blender you can see that over the glass cylinder the parts are pushed, also the rings I have occupied with copper Matrial in TG.:

Not sure if it's just the angle on the very first image you showed of this, but I think it would be intriguing and cool if the brass/copper condensation pipes like things coming off the object crossed each other paths, as if there is some fort of method to crossing the pipes in the physics/functionality of the part.

When I first saw that first image couple posts back I thought they crossed and it gave me all sorts of crazy ideas about those really old atmospheric measuring devices that use condensation and such and brass/copper pipes.

Thanks for your interesting comment my friend.

The copper cables are intended for connection to the ground probe and for power supply.

For the function of the fractal in the holder and various coils are responsible for their own fractal wave pattern with that of the floor over which the vehicle floats. By interfering movements of the pointer arise in the glass bulb, so you can adjust the energy of the drive fractal to allow a smooth levitation.

WASasquatch made me think ...

The last instrument is indeed intended for installation, so attach the protruding tubes and the holder to.
But the last comment has made me think, because why should not be able to float alone.
I will think about it.
When such measuring devices and displays are installed in a vehicle, they are no longer perceived as if they can be viewed individually.

At the moment I am working on new materials, derived from Hannes and Clusters of cracks.

To further complete the steampunk project "Janosch Gravisphere", I first dealt with the history and function of steam engines.
In Blender 3D I first worked on a real implementation and then made a second surreal preliminary design.
The connecting rod drives a fractal energy generator that still needs to be completed.

No idea is a standard render in TG and a symmetric part of Blender.
However, where a part of the material is too high regulated and the wheel I do not like, I'm generally not satisfied, but at the moment I have no good hands to build something.

This is intentional with the corners in the texture, it should really look abstract and not beautiful, that comes through a vector map that regulates the wood and ceramic material. I wanted to fix Merge already by fractal shaders, like the blue ball, but then I would not have received the nice comment from you my friend.

What I like especiallyabout the last one is the ground that is different to your mostly bluish grounds. Nice difference :)

Thank you very much my friend.

Unfortunately, my good pictures get less and less, because I find it difficult to concentrate in order to deliver something passable.
The will is there but the brain is no longer with us.

I have now started to study the influence of the clouds and I notice more and more, TG has a huge abundance, which leaves no fantasies open and I try to implement them in the near future.

I hear on DA many comments that are happy that TG develops further part of the users of the older free version who now focus on TG again :)

The sad thing is that Digital Art Life has promised me 2 interviews, one this year and one next year.
Today I wrote 2 mails to Paul that I am not necessarily well and if then only one and then soon, but if not it is also good, I just wanted you to know it, my friend.

Greetings Alois

I am thinking of quitting 3D because my works do not correspond to what I want to express ...

Sorry to hear  :'(

I hope you think about and find a way to express what you want in 3D. I (and surely many others) would miss your work here.

A good friend here in the forum told me just not to force myself to be productive and let the things (or ideas) come when they want to come.

So head up, maybe pause and then just do what your feeling tells you. :)

Thanks Doc!

I'm going to take a break for a while, there's been too much going on in the private sector lately.
For example, one week ago, I had to dispose of all my artist's items from 50 exhibitions, half we drove at the recycling center and the other half of the cards. Canvases, trimmers and binders were picked up by artists.
I have to first process that I can not issue anymore.
In a few weeks or months it may look better, you will see how things develop.

Thanks for the comments and a nice weekend wished my friend.

Thank you very much my friend!
Always happy to hear that my crazy objects are being viewed.

Since on DA recently our Grupp would have to be closed due to lack of time of the founder, I have now taken over the group, unfortunately, without considering the consequences.
I now have several well-marked ladies who are great artists, as admins wanted to do the weekly features which already demanded a lot of persuasion.
But you have to take care of it regularly, it is not comparable to a FB group of the effort, which is relatively low on FB.

https://www.deviantart.com/art-glory#

Yes, so I'm trying now at least with the Blenderrender which actually no one else uses, because he renders so ancient pictures to make a simple picture 2 times a week, otherwise they mean on DA I'm already under the ground, laugh :)

I wish you a nice time here in the TG forum and when the time comes I hope to post again, thank you my friends! ;)

From a certain age, we probably all have our problems.
But with thinking it has become a bit bad, at 55 it is a bit too early for the whole thing.
But I'm really happy about your comment, thank you!

Your comment is very much my friend!

If I already have problems with Nodes at the moment, which hopes to improve again, I have added an extra TG folder to our group and hope to make my feature to find some works there, which would be very nice.
If you are interested, you can sign up for Deviantart and join our wonderful group "Art Glory", I also have to link to the forum and the company page in my next feature :)

Wished a nice week! :)

Good news :)

Yesterday an artist scrapped a wagon full of my artist's things and got a box of Weltenburger Klosterbier from her, gret stuff!
It is important for me that is thrown away as little as possible and the artists who pick up my things they can then in the playgroups where are mainly refugee children of the immigrant families, very good use to paint with them all, bind calendars and spread joy, very nice.

A few days ago, I removed all the programs on my hard disk to rebuild everything, because it was just chaos in the libraries, voluntarily, I would never have deleted anything from it.
Since I have the 4.3 taken as an opportunity to reinstall TG, incredible, within minutes everything is perfect and running.
That gave me great emotional boost.

If all goes well, I'll be able to annoy you in some time again with my chaos pictures, now I'll create everything in peace, have a nice week!

A few days ago came my severely disabled pass with 50 percent mental retardation.
This, of course, is the logical answer to my abstract pictures.

Well, probably not so good;)

I'll show you the way

Here the original with trees
Object and tree created in Blender.
Material (Hannes), fratale cutouts and render in Terragen 4

The arm is from Makehuman and processed in Blender.
Now I have started to make trees in Blender and render them in Terragen, the leaves are slightly luminescent with 50% reflection, 1 time mixed with more and 1 times less color and regulated with fractal shader.

the rolling giganto bird
Object designed in Blender, trees DAZ.
Rendered in Terragen 4.3

The rolling Giganto bird was one of Jandosch's most extraordinary inventions.
Like many of its objects, the huge automated bird used the fractal energies found in rocks and in the soil of Yurkanti and Orakum lands.
He rolled from city to city and village to village and with the force of an orchestra, beautiful compositions sounded from the horns. They came from artists who presented their latest works to the bird when he appeared in their city.
So the wonderful pieces of music became known in the countries, which pleased the people very much and as thankfulness they planted trees on the metal animal.
Now real birds also nested in the trees and that also pleased the iron bird, which had always kept company on its long routes through the lands.
And if you hear loud birdsong from far away, it could be Jandosch's iron bird singing songs with his friends and rolling into the sunset to the next town to please the people.

"Jandosch" was an ingenious visionary and inventor from the abstract land of the fractals "Orakum".
Surreal vehicles and objects were his favorites.
