I have a 750W PSU which went bad from dust. It started running without a load on it. It will not power the computer. Fortunately I had the PSU which came with the computer, 305W. Various components and computers function differently. Sometimes it is only a newer/older version of a computer model that can make things different.

Yeah that is true, the function varies. Most I've come in contact when repairing these things dont start without a separate pulse. It's sometimes annoying to spot when the button is broken ;)

i almost hope it is just the psu... it doesn't cost a lot of money and i don't lost my files
The chances that you lost any files are slim I'd say but it might be wise to disassemble the HDDs and plug them into another computer, if available, to save the data before conducting further tests.
