Reworking the head.

I was not happy with my first model so, I redid it. This looks a ton better.

Now I will add the skin detail and paint the beast.

It would be cool if you guys and dolls would tell me how you would like to see the Rex posed and possibly painted since this will be for all to use.

Let me know.

Probably mid-stride, or running. Looks good so far. I have tried to make dinos myself. It is very hard to get the widths correct. The heads are elongated and out of proportion to the rest of the body.

Nice dino, Marc. I would definitely do a version with its beak closed, but I think this stance is quite universally usable. Most time they would have been hopping around with their mouths shut. That would be more ideal for 'quiet, unaggressive' images with some dino's in a plain, wood or in a muddy creek. There's enough violence in the world already!

I think, but there has been some other ideas lately about very bright colors, that they were mainly 'lizard colored', but as you know, there's huge variety in lizard colors. But if you post this, why don't you add the plain UV map, so everyone can color the way they want?

Thanks guys.

Dune: Good suggestions. Here is a kinda mid-stride pose. I think I'll make two versions, one with the mouth open and one closed.

Big improvement on the model there.
The proportions look much more balanced too from that angle.

My favourite trex was in the last King Kong movie. It also had great colouring that suited lots of different environments.
Dark to light muted greens, and lots of dirt variations in-between the scales.

Here is a render with the final pose in Terragen. The mesh integrity looks good in this render so, there shouldn't be any additional retopology necessary.

I will also create a female version of the Rex with less vibrant colors then what I have in mind for the male. Also, a unique pose.

Each model will be a separate file for placement in your scene.

Should have this done sometime next week if I don't get sidetracked.

Looks like one of the rexes caught some tail. Great looking model Marc.

This is a sample of the polypaint process. I created an airbrush brush and laid down multiple colors and opacity strengths to build up color. This is just a test to see what size texture map will work. The map size on this render is 1280x1280.

Nice work Marc. I love mesh painting its much more fun than doing it in photoshop

@ airflamesred,

You got that right.

Here is a detail start. I also included a lizard picture which I think would be a cool skin color.

What do you think?

The lizard skin looks like it could belong on the T-rex. Just to stir things up, how about feathers?
