It's been awhile since I posted an image; school tends to do make life a bit busy. Pretty much nothing beyond the basic POV is finalized so it could change a lot or very little depending on where I decide to take it. As always, comments and suggestions for improvement are very much appreciated :)

Cool to see some work from you again.
My first suggestions for improvement would be the fluffy top cloud layer.
You might want to remove that completely maybe.
Second I'd reduce the water wave scale.
The POV and terrain are very good and I think the scales of the trees is pretty good as well.

Great start! First thing that came to my mind were the waves, looks like they could be changed. Can't be more specific, perhaps a little less rough? :)

Edit: That was fast Martin! ;D

love the lighting

and I agree with Martin!

Thank you for you input! I agree with the comments about the water, in the next version it is going to be a lot smoother with smaller scale waves. Also, the POV has been changed somewhat, although I think it is a dramatic improvement.

Dune

I like it. Agree with previous comments; calmer water, but perhaps a little patchiness of waves to keep the water interesting, as if sudden winds come up. Two more suggestions; decrease the tree density towards the hilltops, so that these tops are virtually bare, and darken the sky/clouds a little. It's a bit bleached. The whiff of low cloud is great!

Here is number two. I've lowered the camera to the water level, made the water smoother, changed the lighting, and played with the vegetation. Over all there is a lot less going on in this one. It still needs work, since it just doesn't pop at the moment.

very nice.....I love this version :)

Just one suggestion.....the trees are getting lost in the far left mountain.....maybe scale them up or increase the density?

The foreground beach is superb. There's just one issue with the overall quality of the image - I think I detect some graininess in the reflections, particularly on the left. Maybe up atmo samples??. Also, as you probably know, I'm not a fan of over-exposed skies, but I recognise it's a legitimate aesthetic choice, and it works fairly well here.

I think the graininess you are talking about is because of AA and its from the trees....

I would add a low cloud/fog between the background mountain and the left sides mountain. Not too high, keep it close to the horizon and water level. Just enough to leak around in front of the left mountain.

The graininess is probably due to a number of factors. The reflection of the trees, AA settings, and the wave scale on the water. Since the waves are small, 3.5 meters as opposed to the default ten, at great distances those waves appear to blend into a grainy haze...at least that's what I think is the matter, I won't know for sure until I get back and play with the settings.

A very pleasing scene; both, the first and the second.

I like the beach and especially the water but I miss the low fog in the previous image. It really added to the mood of the scene :)
