Do Xfrog Plants as obj files import cleanly?

I am considering buying some XFrog libraries and wondering if they can be pulled in to TG2 as .obj files cleanly (ie. without having to import them first into Wings3D, then save again as .obj files)?

I know there is an issue with importing .obj files in most cases, requiring that Wings3D workaround.  I've noticed importing 3rd party .obj trees and foliage into Wings3D sometimes causes it to lock up.

Just curious about the XFrog .obj files...

Many thanks!

Xfrog objects should come in just fine by choosing "yes" to the object import prompt "is this object from Xfrog?". You will also find that there have been some improvements from the initial release in terms of object loading.

Yea, I still didn't get the latest version, something I need to do.

XFrog plants loads very well in TG2.
Before you buy download the free package and try for yourself.

I do have this set, but they are already converted to .tgo.

The X Frog libraries are all in .obj format, which TG2 had some issues importing.  Luckily they will inport properly per the responses I got.

Thanks!

Hi,

Before we/greenworks changed to primarily supporting .tgo for the Xfrog plants, we mainly worked with Xfrog .obj files. As far as I can recall, there were no particular problems opening the Xfrog .obj models (for the version 2.0 Xfrog models anyway) and any problems there were with .obj opening were to do with .obj files which came from other sources.

Thanks for the information.  I'm having too much fun with TG2 now, and ready to purchase some libraries of usable foliage, which don't come cheap for some reason.  Since software isn't 'returnable' I'd be pretty bummed if I dropped the money and they didn't import.

If you do happen to have any problems with a model (which I don't think is likely) then let us know which particular one and we can look into. I'm pretty sure we can access any Xfrog model.
