Dune

A squadron of bombers passing underneath a natural Arc de Triomphe. It needs soft shadows (and more), but this was a quicky.

I like. Glad to see you trying something different. i would also like to know how you made the arc.  :P

Dune

Simple shape displacement , bent sideways by twist and shear, then with the same but enlarged and relocated simple shape color (which might as well be another SS) a masked redirect down, after a compute terrain.

Looks cool!

When i saw your picture i instantly imagined myself the black/white old school King Kong from the movie into your image, haha..
~ The annoying popularity of Vue brought me here.. ~

Nice one Ulco. Some day, I'd like to see someone produce the 'Delicate Arch' in Moab, Utah. I've hiked to this fantastic arch several times over the years.

That would have to be done as an object, I'm afraid. Bending in TG is quite fickle.

I believe that a light directed more laterally could given more relief in the clouds and texture of the arch. Not always possible according to the terrain and the clouds on the other hand. In any event it'a nice experimentation.   :)

Dune

I will do another one, soon.

Hannes

Impressive! Great idea.

Dune

Another one.

Seth

nice arch.
I like the high contrasted black and white

Keep developing this arch stuff, Ulco. It looks like its got real possibilities.
I'm not a big fan of the 2 images as they are though. But Im guessing they are just test images anyway. Even so, I can see the potential here.
It has been eaten.

Wow, that's an achievement! The only way I was able to accomplish this was by redirecting two heightfields so they join up. You always see the intersection - it's apparent that it is not a continuous rock structure. You seem to have figured out how to do it with just one heightfield. Congrats!

Cool :-). I'm so glad you've been able to do so many interesting things with the Simple shape shader.
