Finally played around with Gaea. I like it very much and made a little scene out of my second try.

Hannes

Here is the naked terrain, directly imported from Gaea and textured in TG (using Gaea maps and a little bit TG-procedurals)

Wow that first little landscape is certainly nice. The TG imported one looks very nice as well. The terrain topology is very realistic and flows nicely, where areas are broken up by growing terrain and not everything just smoothed over from flows or something.

I downloaded bleeding edge last night to try. Are you using the 1k output or is this paid for higher res?

Hannes

Well, I won a full license of Gaea, which I used for the images. But I downloaded bleeding edge as well today, which has already some great new features. But all textures have a watermark.

they should fix it monday, gonna roll out a patch to fix this issue, it has some other issues with building and resolutions.

I find that odd. It really should be just called a trial. Nothing "Community" about it. Lol

That's good to hear. I thought, the bleeding edge version was only for testing. Some great new features, and it seems it's faster all in all.

Nice work! Yeah, the bleeding edge has problems with some strange outputs. Hope it's sorted soon as it has some super new fgeatures I wqnt to use.

I thought bleeding edge was already supposed to be the new standard, with all the issues with exporting fixed, as well as all other reported breaking isseus? That's how they're advertising it. That's why I downloaded it after almost 2 years.

The Gaea discord server has been in quite the uproar, as in addition to 1.3 not respecting licensing, apparently for some people it's wiped the license for their old version as well.  Supposed to be a hotfix out tomorrow though.

So, I'd better wait a little while before installing... thanks for this thread. I didn't even know about it.

man the new Gaea has some huge difference into writing files to import in terragen, the old way of importing the terrain produces incorrect results..
im fiddling with this since a while and havent found a solution yet

Nice results Hannes!  I've been using Gaea for awhile, it's a super powerful app with undeniably the best erosion effects (Danil again!). However, it's been a chore to get it to behave, so I've pretty much put it aside for a bit. I find World Creator a lot easier to use and WC 2.41 is mature and stable. WC 2021 looks to be a killer! I wish it was easier to get TG terrains exported to some of the 'real-time' apps, perhaps the current development will get that done.

Looks like there's a new version out with the license/watermark issue fixed.  I'm going to give it a couple more days, but the new features do look really cool.
