The image was created using the 'Bright Angel' DEM file which I once received from buzzzzz1 some time ago. Rendering the final picture was not without some problems however as explained in the link here at Planetside: http://forums.planetside.co.uk/index.php?topic=5727.0 .

Also, a thanks to FrankB for his cloud files available at: http://nwda.webnode.com/terragen-2-tech-packs/ . From his .tgd file, I made a clip file that I linked up to my atmosphere node and including a number of cloud re-seeds, came up with what you see.

Superb terrain and texturing, and great clouds for the most part. The higher 2d cirrus-type clouds look a bit unreal in shape though. The bushes, while bright and starkly contrasting with the desert, still look realistic. I especially like the distribution. Very nice work all around!

Thank you Oshyan. Yes, the painter shader works very well for proper plant distribution; and, the anti-aliasing bloom helps soften the image overall while taking the sharp edge off of the vegetation. Also, the Cubic B-Spline (soft) pixel filter adds to this effect.

I agree about the cirrus clouds; however, I liked their angle in relation to the terrain where they are almost the same as the terrain on the right contributing to good picture balance.

Wow, Bob, this is an awesome render. Next to what Osyhan has mentioned, I would like to point out that I really admire the terrain formation and its shapes - these are really excellent. Look like the real thing to me, especially on the steeper parts.
Also, you've got the lighting in the sky just right. The immediate terrain foreground could use a bit more detail, but that's nitpicking.

Best regards,
Frank

I agree superb render. The only downside is that on my monitor there's heavy banding in the blue sky area.

A nice summer morning, though the there looks like a concrete spill toward the front.  Is there building going on nearby?   ;D

Nice work.  I love the clouds, the point of view and good work on the terrain.  Good plant distribution.
So this is Disney World.  Can we live here?

a stunner Bob! love this terrain and view!

Fantastic image!  I especially like the rock formation on the left side of the picture.
