For the leaves in the water I used a fake stones shader that was controlled by a painted map.

Wow! This is looking great. The foreground and middleground are excellent. Background seems a bit too repetitive and "flat" somehow, but overall a really nice image. Mind if we add it to the gallery?

Btw the birds aren't single objects. I purchased them years ago somewhere (don't remember) as two different objects "flock of birds".

contrary to Oshyan, I think the background and middleground are the image's strength. To me, the foreground and also the part with the leaves in the water give it away as CG for me. If you'd cut away the lower third, the remaining result is really good.
