Working with image based displacements

I've been taking a break from rendering for a while, but wanted to share some of the progress I've made with image based displacements.  I do plan on developing this further.  I think the results are very nice if done correctly, and can supplement areas where more of an organic/natural look is required.  Additionally, this method should animate nicely.

Those rocks are astounding :o... I'm very curious as to how you did this, they have to be the most realistic rocks I've seen done to date. Great work.
I just need to tweak that texture a bit more...

I've tried to get this look, but considering that i am a MASSIVE newbie with no knowledge of how to manipulate the node network, i always get funny lookin' results.

Please share what you did!
