I think, Njeneb, that it was Dune himself who made that render, he's the original poster of this thread. ;)

Thanks, I was interested at the time it was posted. But it was something I put aside for later. I don't think I'm up to it now either. I'm now trying to figure out what render settings to use for the best speed/quality on my computer.

Oh, I have read the recommended. Since I have one computer, I use one thread. It allows me to play a little. ;D

Pre and post are ter files before and after making a river ...

That's really cool. I have been using 'flat' rivers, which don't look right at a distance. Thanks for working this out. ;D 8)

Thanks!!!  That was sneaky,  Have slightly smaller 95 percent heightfield w/o river gets the water surface.  And then the larger "real" heightfield with the river cut is what you feed into the compute terrain.

I appreciate very much these little snippets of applied node logic.  Examples like this does a world of good for getting me to understand what is going on.  Again Thanks!!

A slightly lower heightfield is not enough; it still has the bumps that cause a river, at close view, to look unnatural. Water angling sideways. From a distance it's no problem. It can partly be 'flattened' by using smooth terrain and a larger patch in compute terrain, but that's still not enough, as you can see from my original posting. More work to do. At the location of the river, the heights perpendicular to the flow of the river should be measured and given a mean value, that should be sufficient in my opinion. But how to do that....
