would you be willing to make a small tut on how you created those incridible rocks that you made?  I for one have been trying to get that same exact effect, and of as yet, I have not figured that one out.  Your Obsidion is an awesome entry, and it inspired me in where I want to go next with TG2.

DeathTwister - very cool terrain!  The textures seem a little obvious and maybe overstretched, but I still think it looks nice.  Would you mind sharing how you managed to get that blockly feel to the terrain?

Hay all,

Lighting and camera did not change, but I sure had my way with the rest of this scene /smiles......I think it is so awesome to be able to see how each of us has changed the basic terrain file and think this idea is very awesome and it gives me idea's for some Comp's I play in in other websites.

FYI: Textures were taken from http://texturesource.org if anyone needs textures, that's the place to get them.
OK here is my Entry:

Sure I would be happy to a bit later,

Need to go to town and I will tell ya the settings I have and what I did sure /smiles. As for the textures, you ma be right, but I was kinda liking the strips going down the blocky parts, but I also have been having trouble mapping virtical mapping somewhat still.  Maybe use that same map texture and use the virt mapping instead of X,Y, Z maybe on one of the layers.  No time to redo though, I will stand with what I did, to long a render time and need to get back to XSI 6/Max and keep working.  But I will share my settings with you all later today /smiles.....

DeathTwister...The shape of the rocks themselves?...that part is rather a mystery to me, it happened accidentally when I was tweaking around.

Or do you mean the look of the rocks? I just attached the water shader to the child layer of the surface shader that was also using/connected to the fake rock shader...I think...or...erm....how about I just upload the tgd file.

...

er...wait...how do I...AHA!! I think I got it.

(starfield pic is for the background...might have to modify the file location in the background internal network)

DeathTwister: that terrain is cool, but for the Terrain modification challenge on the designpath forums, your terrain was supposed to be completely original.  I decided to let it slide though unless anyone else objects, since the terrain you started with was pretty simple.  Just next time make sure to read all the rules  ;)

The word modification means to change something that already exists. It may have been more fitting for your contest not to have used the term. I think it may have confused the situation. :)

Yes to both and thanks so much for sharing, I am sure I am not the only one and I can upload mine the one I did, if anyone needs to look at the shaders more for the rocks as well.

Der, I did think I had it right, must have gotten the Compititions confused, sorry mate, will do better next time and thankies for letting me stay in /bows.  Haha I would have rather gone from scratch anywayz hahahahaha, hay next time /winks.

Yep yup pretty much what I thought with the word modification, but then hay I usually read this stuff very early in the morning, sometimes even before my first cup of Java, hahahahaha.

Thanks both of you so much, and for all your help and getting back to me with info.  Yum yum have to look at that file now and see what ya did /smiles..... How awesome what you got and did my brother.

duff

Hello all.

Some great images so far. Is there an end point on this or do we keep going until someone posts another challenge?

Anyway, I thought I'd post my attempt which isn't quite as I expected it to turn out and is born out of general randomness and just seeing what would happen as I played around with bits and bobs.  As a result I've ended up with something a little Alien.

ProjectX

wow, how did you get that light refraction effect? It's very pretty.

I cheated!

It's different colour cloud layers.

That's not cheating, that's creativity.  :D
