Thanks guys! :)

About the textures. Its kinda just a stand in as I showed it. The temples in their day were all painted, so I intend to paint in MUD. I know the reference I used was painted as well because there is paint residue the archaeologists found, but there is no way to be sure of the details. There is quite a lot of variation from one temple to the next too.

I found this. I like certain parts of it a lot. I will use it as a reference though it is not of my sources temple.

The temple I was trying to recreate was apparently more simple. But its nice to have options depending on what I can find time for.

For the TG scene I found these trees which would be great, but don't know if I can buy them in the format I would want and need
(olive trees)

I know wali has a couple of trees that will work to. And I need to check the speed tree store to see what they have. Should check with xfrog too.

there's a free one here if you can edit .obj
it's in a pot but you'd just delete that

and an awesome one here for $45.00
http://3docean.net/item/hd-olive-tree/716796

and this one for about the same cash but 3 models

The Cornucopia trees aren't very nice, I think. The 45 dollar one is the best, really. Depends on how close in view you need them, I guess.

I agree, for some reason XFROG didn''t happen in my search...they'd likely have the best one IMO

The 2nd link is quite generous with a 9 model pack(533MB) for free...hope they're decent models. Never enough Olive trees...just ask Judas, heh heh heh. But the solo one is max only..too bad

Yeah, I found them while I was looking for Michael. Haven't looked at them yet....

That's some fine modeling work Michael! You certainly have put some major work in on this project, and I'm looking forward to whatever your end goal may be. As to Olive trees to bring into TG, I don't think you can use the ST Store models as the format requires a ST modeler to save it out to an .obj file. The Cornucopia3D 'Solid Growth' trees work best in Vue, where they can be modified. However, Frederic Bec, has a very fine Olive Tree for $25, plus if you download the free TPF Exporter you can then modify the tree for age and season and bring it into TG. Though, I seem to recall that you may have purchased TPF way back when it was first released?

Wow thanks you three!! I feel pretty optimistic about the prospect of getting the variation I would like to have now.
There is some good links here, and some of those links also go to other useful things too. I saw a dead leaf pack that I want to look into as well.

@zaxan
Yes I have a version of TPF. IT seems to actually be stable now on my platform (mostly). But I have the last upgrade before the newer edition.
That tree you posted is very nice! I will pursue that and see if I can work with it. Thank you.
Actually I believe that I may of seen it way back when, but when I looked again last night I only caught the two links I posted. So its nice of you to post that because I was sure I had seen something more, but thought it was just gone now.

please google image of olive trees. Man, they get pretty crazy looking. As tall as redwoods are, olives get twisted and fantasy looking. Pretty neat trees.

thanks again for the help on the tree, I really wanted to have some olives!

Also,
I see now that the image I posted above is tiny.
this is the image I meant to post. Look at all this detail!

Well that's a bit disappointing...no proper .mtl with a parts list for the 9 .obj trees, dunno bout the max files.  As these are free could someone who has max and time re export them with .mtl files. Possibly just share the .mtls as anyone wanting them will have dl'd the pack already.
1 step forward, 2 steps back...that kind of day. My overnight P of C render proved to be crap and a waste of last evening...sigh.
But the wheel turns and I look forward always....

2nd this!

I use Maya, Bobby. I would love to use max because of all the awesome plugins. But I don't like using bootcamp or having to buy windows. I hate that I have to reboot, since I almost always use more than one soft at a time.
There really are some great free plug-ins and scripts for max that will never be ported to Maya.
