Great looking smoke indeed!

Two more versions. Getting fed up with it by now...

Number 2 (not perfect, but a another test), giving me some ideas to make an Atlantis kind of thing...

A Minoan tidal wave sim would work well with it also. It's easier to think about than the resent ones.

This latest is very good. Maybe a small bit of glow from within the depth of the cone. Also, maybe a mix of lighter smoke with the dark would enhance the plume.

thera/atlantis...looking forward to these!

Dune

A mix of light steam/smoke is much nicer, indeed.

And two premature Atlantis thingies, just to test the idea. In one I let bubbles escape from an underwater vulcano. The water is very transparent, too much perhaps for such a wide area.

Great experiments, Ulco. The mixture of light and dark smoke is quite nice, maybe a little too contrasty. There's something you don't here very often about your particular rendering style, eh? :D

I wonder, is there something in the air water that makes us all wind up on similar projects? I'm also getting some underwater tests done at the moment. Here's one frame of a new animation I'm rendering as a practice exercise. Weird, huh?

Marvelous stuff Ulco and Martin, you guys keep the creative vibes going filling our minds with new ideas ...keep on.

In smoke I like contrast  8) But seriously, I know it's  bit too much. Just testing stuff, I suppose. I've got one now where I also have some flames leaking out of the crater. And the underwater thingies came from a sentence Henry wrote about smokers underwater. And I immediately switch and get new ideas. Too many ideas to work out, though. Every time I start a simple test, it ends up quite promising and I built a landscape around it, add some bushes, some more clouds, and before you know, it's a word of itself. But before perfecting it, another idea turns up, and I neglect the former one. Heaps of unfinished business here.

Like this one here. Experimenting with other craters I ended up doing one in WM. Another one I won't finish, I'm afraid, as it's far from perfect.

I am happy to spread my chaos. :D

Wonderful volcano Ulco. It does not have the classic caldera, but one which is far more interesting; and more likely. Great job.

Last one for some time. Had to use displacement tolerance = 2 to get the peaks correct.
