don't get too mad over this ;D
Does it really matter if it's today or tomorrow or the day after tomorrow? I don't think so. A product release can be a whole lot of work shortly before the deadline, and that is not only for some last minute tweaking of the SW, it's also around the marketing stuff that needs doing, content to be written, interviews to be arranged, work on the website and so on and so forth. A company with a marketing department would be able to handle these things in a managed project manner and deliver on the spot. But PS is a small shop, and must deal with these thing sequentially, and its common to underestimate the workload associated to these.

Easy, fellow TG2 friends, easy. Eventually, we'll have what we wanted.

Frank

PS: I'm in Europe. It's late and I will go get some sleep, and not have any nightmares around the release date having slipped into April 09

Zylot

I'm not upset, just like to be informed on what's happening and why.  I too have a render in the works (and for me they take so so much longer).

rest well, who knows, we may wake up to good news tomorrow.

Mr_Lamppost

Well I the UK it is now April.  ;D

Guess what?

What is the special big deal about the 2.0 release anyway? The version we are using does the job and won't expire so I for one can wait.
Smoke me a kipper I'll be back for breakfast.

Right you are...
I'm going to bed as well, dreaming about... well, anything really  ;D

Good night!
Howgh!

Have you been doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results?

Matt,

in an earlier thread you stated the final pricing and the deadline for pre-release purchases will be announced prior to the release. Does that still stand? And are we talking 24-hour notice or something more reasonable?

otakar,

We won't suddenly raise the price without giving you reasonable notice in advance... we will give you that.

Matt
Judging by this post, I can only assume that the final release won't be announced today or tomorrow. I've already purchased T2, but I think others are waiting to see the price list for the final release, before making their decision.

I'm also willing to wait until PS is ready with a solid release. I only ask that they make us aware of any delays.

Had a bit of a fight with the good one in myself if I should join this discussion .... and ... oh well the evil one won ....

So here is my three cents:

I agree, it shouldn't really matter if the release is today or tomorrow or wheneva, BUT why TF do they get us all excited about going GOLD in March '09?!?!?!
Why not just shout up about it and announce it when it is actually ready instead of making fools of themselves AGAIN?!??!

Don't they realize there is geeks like myself out there actually looking forward to the "final" release, waiting for it and wasting valuable time checking this thread over and over?!
I don't get it - that's what I call bad marketing strategies.

However, looking at there "new" webpage, which btw is already google indexed (maybe tell your webdeveloper to keep google out until it goes live) doesn't make me think the release is gonna be anytime soon as the content isn't even completed there:

Some nice pics up there :)

Nevertheless, in Germany there's a saying that I guess sums up what I wanted to say and always found funny (just to loosen this up a bit):

WHO CACKLES SHOULD LAY AN EGG!!!!

cheers

I bet Matt and the team are flailing right now trying to fix something and get it all packaged and built.

wow new site looks great cant wait to see that pushed live...  looks like they still got some text here and there to fill in ;)  lorem ipsum ;)

but yeh.... due to previous history planetside, wouldve been best to release bit earlier then the last hours of the 31st (if you even hit that), and to not announce that you would release until you already had that build built and ready to go, just sitting on it for a little more testing, then release.

Just found this on the new website, could be a screeny, dose the terrain preview look bigger? :)
Richard
ps actually pick apart the new web site, I'm finding quite a few cool ideas mentioned there that we've not got our mitts on "yet" ....

Did you notice how the new logo (the "P") looks like a planet and a ring?!?! Nice!!!! ;)

Well the fact that the website has been reuploaded is a good sign at least. Matt said that the first instance of this site being found was a mistake and it shouldn't have been publicly accessible till the release. Besides Oshyan was on earlier today (well yesterday now) and didn't even mention the release schedule, so I'm off to bed. I'm freakin' knackered and I've worn out the F5 key on my keyboard.
Figured out how to do clicky signatures

The big deal is a better program.  You dont see that? or are you are just too cool to be excited?  In my opinion there are many things that could help do the job better.  A butter knife does the job of chopping down a tree, but a chainsaw does it better.  Im excited about potential chainsaws.

Packer: the problem is the announcement originally didn't come from Matt and most likely, was never going to be made at all...   but Xfrog let it slip in an unrelated thread and started.. well...   all of this.

Edit, see below

Matt

Terragen 2.0 is built and ready for release. Xfrog plants for TG2 are ready. We're just experiencing a technical issue. We may be a day late but we're mostly in a good state apart from that. Please bear with us.

Terragen 2 day is almost here :) :)
